As more women than ever play mobile phone games, top games publisher Thumbstar Games teams up with style innovators Smeg on mobile hit Fridge Words

Over 60% of the social mobile games market is comprised of female players, according to research firm EEDAR.

As more surveys reveal more women than ever are now playing mobile games and in particular word games, an exciting new word-based puzzle game has been launched which is set to become one of the most popular ever.

Mobile games publisher, Thumbstar Games, launched the alluring fridge magnet based game, Fridge Words, for iOS devices on 10th January and in just over a week reached #1 Free Word Game on the iPad, in the UK and 16 other countries, and Top 5 in 20 countries, including the UK, on the iPhone!

With the Android launch today on Google Play, Thumbstar Games are excited at the prospect of repeating their success with this stand-out title.

In Fridge Words, two players are given the same sets of fridge magnet letters, and face off to make the biggest number of high scoring words within a timed period. Throw in multiplier, bonus and rotatable letters, and fast-paced, frenzied action, is guaranteed.

To inject some extra style and charm into the game Thumbstar have just joined forces with appliance design geniuses Smeg for its latest game update available today which will see Fridge Words now played out on a stunning Smeg FAB28 50’s retro style refrigerator.

With thousands of players to challenge, on both iOS and Android devices, the option to play friends via Facebook and a beautiful new Smeg overhaul, there’s never been a better time to give the grey matter a dust-off and try the next big thing in social gaming.

Fridge Words really is now the coolest game in the world!

BAFTA Games Award winner Martin Edmondson, Chief Creative Officer of Thumbstar Games commented, “We are really pleased with how well Fridge Words has been received by mobile gamers across the world, but we are determined to continually update it and create the most alluring and fun experience possible. Smeg are a perfect match in that respect, with very similar brand values on offer when it comes to designing products.”

John Davies, Brand Manager for Smeg UK commented “Working with Thumbstar Games on Fridge Words is an exciting venture for us. It’s fantastic to see our appliances being used in an entirely new and creative way, on a game which has such universal appeal and charm.”
